This is also reflected in the diverse retail landscape of the Rhine metropolis: Urban concept stores, premium areas and architecturally and technologically innovative concepts enliven the shopping culture in the city as well as in the city’s trendy districts.

Apple

Kö-Bogen, Königsallee 2, 40212 Düsseldorf

Designed by star architect Daniel Libeskind, the Kö-Bogen is home to one of Apple’s spectacular flagship stores. The latest must-have devices are laid out on long wooden tables in a spacious store that features high ceilings, lots of glass and an abundance of light, which streams in through two large window fronts. Today at Apple programmes are held regularly.

Awsum

Hermannstraße 24, 40233 Düsseldorf

Located in the trendy Flingern quarter, Düsseldorf’s first concept store devoted to urban mobility and e-biking is run by two local retail designers, Karl and Klaus Schwitzke. E-bikes, bicycles, clothing and accessories are presented in a minimalist atmosphere with sustainable materials on 150 sqm of retail space.

Bechstein

Adersstraße 12 -14, 40215 Düsseldorf

The C. Bechstein flagship store features grand and upright pianos staged under black mirrored ceilings and planted skylights in front of an imposing mountain landscape. The lighting is inspired by the cast iron shapes of the piano frame, which sustains the tension of the strings. Sliding felt pads are used to create varying mises-en-scène in the 700-sqm space, giving customers the feeling that they are standing in the heart of a Bechstein instrument.

Christ

Königsallee 56, 40212 Düsseldorf

The architectural concept of the jewellery retailer’s 170-sqm store is based on the principles of clarity, quality, consistency and focus. Anthracite grey and black matt surfaces meet leather textures and a bare-concrete look that features alternating metal, glass and gold elements.

Coolblue

KII, Schadowstraße 42-52, 40212 Düsseldorf

At the end of 2021, the Dutch online electronics retailer opened its first physical store in Germany in the KII. On a sales area of 2,600 sqm, Coolblue’s range comprises around 1,000 electronic devices, including laptops, televisions and washing machines. Customers can pick up their online orders and take advantage of aftersales services such as repair services.

Douglas Luxus Store

Königsallee 78, 40212 Düsseldorf

The cosmetics chain Douglas is pursuing its connected retail strategy with its flagship store on Düsseldorf’s Königsallee. Opened in 2022, it features individually furnished rooms equipped with modern devices, where customers can book beauty treatments and have minimally invasive cosmetic procedures performed.

The longstanding company’s store concept combines the strengths of an online shop and the physical presence of merchandise to create an atmospheric 220-sqm showroom. The idea is to allow customers to physically experience products from the approximately 25,000 articles in the company’s online product range. Customers can use touchscreens to receive information about the products from Foto Koch’s website.

Franzen

Königsallee 42, 40212 Düsseldorf

Franzen is the address of choice for fine tableware and sells all the top brands of porcelain, glass and silverware, clocks and jewellery, writing implements and stationery. The premises are flooded with light thanks to the glass dome. In 2016, the store was given an open-design entrance area and a new, luxury jewellery department.

Lego

Flinger Str. 50, 40213 Düsseldorf

A Lego mural of the Düsseldorf skyline adorns the entrance to the building block manufacturer’s Düsseldorf store. An oversized yellow Lego brick protrudes from the ceiling and provides lighting for the store. Showcases of varying sizes are set into the shelves on the back wall, demonstrating Lego creativity and reminding visitors of aquariums or terrariums in a zoo.

Leica

Kö-Galerie, Königsallee 60, 40212 Düsseldorf

Smooth concrete surfaces with thin in-built LED strip lights, black painted product walls and a Pandomo floor provide a sleek background for cameras and accessories to be displayed. The store is approximately 270 sqm and spans two floors. The Leica Gallery on the basement level features changing photography exhibitions.

Lynk & Co

Kasernenstraße 13, 40213 Düsseldorf

The alternative membership car brand’s fourth German club opened on February 4th and showcases its Model 01 behind transparent metal curtains in an environment of raw, natural finishes with various textures, exposed piping and the signature yellow sofa. A bar and a co-working space complement the store concept.

Miele Experience Center

Kö-Bogen, Königsallee 2, 40212 Düsseldorf

The new Miele store can be found near the Apple store in the Kö-Bogen. The store invites visitors to experience the brand in real life and with all their senses. The two-storey location comprises a total of 441 sqm of sales and storage space. The ground floor is used by Miele itself, while the first floor houses Miele subsidiary Otto Wilde Grillers’ first showroom. Regular cooking events are held at weekends.

Mondenero

Schadowplatz 12, 40212 Düsseldorf

Mondenero is a retail concept in which gastronomy and retail meet service. The design agency that created the store design, Heilight, received the German Design Award for interior architecture. At the heart of the store are an elegant ground-floor café and bar, where customers can see exclusive styles and outfits for women and men from the Mondenero fashion label. The café is connected to the first floor by a sculpture that rises alongside the staircase.

Nespresso

Königsallee 19, 40212 Düsseldorf

At its store on Königsallee, the coffee retailer offers customers a contactless experience with self-checkouts. Customers can choose the type of coffee they want from a self-service wall and pack it in a paper bag. When they place this bag on the automated payment machine, it recognises the products via RFID, which they can then pay for by EC card or credit card. Alternatively, customers can pay at a regular checkout with a cashier. A café on the upper floor invites customers to take a break from shopping and try a specialty coffee.

Paper & Tea

Carlsplatz 3, 40213 Düsseldorf

A magical and intimate world awaits tea lovers in Düsseldorf’s historic city centre. Opened at the end of October 2022, the store is just 26 sqm. It is designed around a tea bar, which stands in the centre of the room and provides a place for tea lovers to meet and talk about all things tea. Regular cultural events are held to enhance the experience.

Porsche Design

Kö-Bogen, Königsallee 2, 40212 Düsseldorf

The essence of the high-performance car manufacturer runs through the Porsche Design store’s interior decoration and product range. Located in the Kö-Bogen, the store features high-quality fashion and accessories, functional and sophisticated products, sportswear, shoes, eyewear, fragrances, jewellery, tobacco products and stationery.

Sevens Home of Saturn

Königsallee 56, 40212 Düsseldorf

An LED globe weighing 1.2 tonnes welcomes customers as they enter the Sevens Home of Saturn shopping centre. With a diameter of three metres and covered with 400,000 LEDs, the globe serves the shopping centre as a 25-sqm advertising space. The installation was originally part of the German pavilion at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. In addition to a five-storey Saturn store, the centre’s seven floors are home to numerous retailers, like Chanel and Christ, as well as a food court on the basement level. The centre is directly connected to the Kö-Galerie.

Telekom

Schadowstraße 39, 40212 Düsseldorf

Customers can put on a VR headset and venture into the world of virtual reality at Telekom’s flagship store in Düsseldorf. Screens provide product information, and an interactive touchscreen invites customers to try out headphones and learn more about them. Other screens help to display goods and advertise special offers. As an extra service, customers can book an in-store appointment online. A coffee bar is available for customers to enjoy a warm drink.
